Amon Tobin - Foley Room

I bought Foley Room a while ago in iTunes and I just love it! Amon Tobin takes his sound to next level on his new album. Instead of sampling old vinyl records, Amon recorded animals and machines to get the sounds for this one. Tracks I like: Esther’s, Keep Your Distance, Big Furry Head.

Amon presented his new album at Domino festival yesterday (AB, Brussels). The concert started with the screening of “Foley Room - Found Footage”, a documentary on how the sounds were recorded for this album.

The “concert” itself was a DJ set by Amon, playing sounds and tracks of his new album, blending it all with some dark drum ’n’ bass. The sound in the AB Hall was amazing.

The only thing I didn’t like were the visuals. Staring at the image of an equalizer for two hours was a bit too much for me. The concept was nice, the video reacted to the music. This was nice during the first song, but I would have liked seeing something else after that. Since Amon was only DJ’ing and not playing with live musicians, the show wasn’t visually interesting.

And to end this article, here are some pics of the concert.
