Managing Inspiration
Every day I spend some time reading RSS-feeds. I read a lot on design, technology, usability, … Just about anything I’m interested in as a designer. The best articles end up on Delicious for future reference. I also see a lot of inspiring images. Most of these images come from places like ffffound, but does it float, The Dieline and some other design blogs. The images I like end up in my inspiration folder on my computer. So far I have about 4000 of them. I’m using one of the standard Apple Screen Savers to start showing the images at random when I’m away from my computer.

Minify CSS with YUI Compressor and AppleScript
I like using YUI Compressor to minify CSS files for production websites but like a lot of people, I don’t like doing it from Terminal. I wrote an AppleScript today to Minify CSS files from TextWrangler. The script will be added to the next version of Vormplus Webtools. In this article I’m going to explain how the script works.

An External Hard Drive is not a Backup…
However, I’ve heard you can use them to back up your files. But you can also use them to archive files. And that’s what most graphic design professionals and students I know do. They work on laptops, attach their external hard drive once in two weeks and move the projects they finished to have some extra free space on their laptop.
