Testing Safari 3 Part II

I started writing this post with Safari 3 on an iMac G5. I also had troubles starting it up on this mac for the first time. And again this was caused by plugins.

Dragging tabs

Rearanging tabs works fine. This was a thing I was missing in Safari since I use this a lot in Firefox. Dragging a tab gives a nice sliding animation of the other tabs.

Dragging a tab outside of the browser to create a new window is also a nice feature, but I don’t think I’ll use it that much. I prefer tabs.

Resizable textfields

A really nice feature, is that you can resize textareas by dragging the bottom right corner. In textpattern, the rest of the interface moves to the side.

Better looking form elements

Dropdown boxes look really great.

File upload fields do not look that great. Apple needs to do a little work here.

Inline find

The inline find feature is a thing I’ve been waiting for in Safari. The find system in Safari 2 wasn’t that good. The inline find system is similar to the find system of Firefox 2. But it’s visually better looking.
